Nissan 350Z 2DIN Head Unit Cubby Replacement

The Problem

When upgrading the Nissan 350Z interior with a 2DIN head unit, the factory cubby area is often removed or modified. This can create a major issue: key mounting bolts and access points behind the center stack become difficult or impossible to reach once the new head unit is installed. It can also leave the interior looking unfinished if the original structure is not properly replaced.

The Solution

This 350Z 2DIN Head Unit Cubby Replacement system is designed to replace the factory cubby while maintaining full access to the mounting bolts behind the center console panel.

The system is made up of two main components:

• Cubby Frame:
  Bolts directly into the factory head unit mounting location using the original OEM bolt points, restoring structural support to the center console.
• Cubby Sleeve:
  Slides into the frame and secures in place with bolts once the center column panel is installed. This allows the interior panel to be fully removed and reinstalled while still maintaining access when needed.

The face plate can be glued to the sleeve for a permanent finish, or left as a tight friction fit, depending on user preference.

Build Notes / Customization

The interior of the Cubby Sleeve and visible sections of the frame can be optionally lined with suede interior wrap for a more OEM+ appearance.

This updated version has been simplified by removing integrated USB cutouts, making it a universal base model suitable for different head unit setups.
